Lögberg (ON) noun

The Law-Rock; part of the Icelandic General Assembly (ON alþingi) during the Commonwealth. The Law-Rock was the seat of the lawspeaker (ON lögsögumaðr) and was the location for announcements, such as new laws. It fell out of use after Js was introduced in 1271. The actual site of the Law-Rock at Þingvellir is unknown, though several places have been suggested.
