málakona (ON) noun

A married woman who retained legal ownership of her own property. When married a málakona and her husband stipulated an agreement (ON máli) concerning which property was to remain hers. This type of property ownership during marriage was an alternative to the more common practice of joint-ownership between spouses (ON félag).
