Viewing software allowing museum visitors to explore and interact with surrogate manuscripts and associated narrative material forming part of a public exhibition. Uses Java and runs as an applet or from a standalone desktop machine. Grid-enabled interface using Storage Resource Broker clientware (University of California San Diego) for sharing and displaying in real-time selected virtual reality exhibition materials across partner institutions (museums, galleries or universities), drawing on high-volume, high-resolution digital image datasets held on and managed via a compatible Solaris SUN servers.
