The questions asked by Digital Folk cover a range of activities. We have identified seven key contexts in which folk arts participation comes into direct and meaningful contact with digital media and technology. The boundaries between these contexts are not fixed, and we recognise that many kinds of digital activity will fall between or across multiple categories. Nevertheless, classifying the wide variety of relevant behaviours and practices will help us to better conceptualise and study the field.
