Support: Parchment. It is almost impossible to give precise measurements of the leaves, as this is a miscellaneous manuscript made up by different quires of different size. Measurements given are the overall framing size of the leaves.
Extent:c. 200 x c. 140 mm
Collation: Originally quires of various sizes and very tightly bound. Catchwords: ff. 22v; 29v; 37v; 53v; 60v; 71v; 79v; 87v; 95v; 102v; 112v.
Layout:Pricking: regular in the first item for the lines, it is visible on the outer edge, 4 mm apart. Writing space: variable with the type of text. The poems in English are written without ruling or writing frame.
Writing: Several hands. There are hands which seem to be of the first half of the fourteenth century if not earlier. The hand of the song (ff. 113-114) uses an old-fashioned script derived from the uncial, using wynn for w and Anglicana Formata features. Body height: 2 mm. F. 66, the other poem, seems to have been copied by the same scribe who copied the music. A mix of Anglicana features and half uncial.
Decoration:No decoration. There are drawings and capitals in red, with initials in red for the first text. The Boethius text carries decorated initials in green and red, with rubrics in red. Capitals in red with music in black decorate the music. Other textual parts occasionally rubricated or annotated in red.
Binding: The binding could be medieval, skin over board, perhaps originally calf (suede). Size: 220 x 150 mm. Sewn on six double bands across the spine, four are visible. Fixing of cover on the boards: four strings (strips) across the spine between the board and the leather of the binding. No exterior furniture or decoration, the board is now visible as are the strings which fix the board to the book. Chain ring mark still visible on the top above the clasp.

Provenance:Perhaps compiled at Llanthony priory by a master of the grammar school (Brown 1928). Donated to Lanthony, Glos., by Walter Waldink of Staunton, Herefordshire c. 1314 (f.3 - carries the donation inscription) (see Brown 1928, p. 588).
Acquisition:Given to the College by , fellow of the college on April 23 1619 (f. 3r).
