Although some of us, have such engagements of ourselves & our estates as both are set upon the tenters, & none of us (no more then anie christian in such times) can bee without more then ordinarie exercises of charitie; yet in regard of the bleeding estates of our brethren in other reformed Churches (destitute of the crummes of those powerful helpes wee inioy, & for want thereof embruing their ill ordered zeale in the life blood of the honour of religion (which enioyneth all christs followers love & peace) Wee in brotherly love & the tenderest bowells of Christian compassion commiserating their divisions & great distractions for want of those meanes to[altered] soder & unite their spirits, which (by the godly endeavour of some reverend & well affected brethren) is like to bee imparted to them, doe promise to pay in to Dr [deletion] Dr Stoughton mr [deletion]<Burton> or their assignes the summes underwritten to bee imploied in maintaining men to translate or compose such seasonable treatises as their present necessities require, & to print & convey unto them such meanes of their Spiritual good as those mentioned holy men shall direct   To this dutie of Love & pious pietie wee are the rather induced, as not knowing whither the Lord may not of purpose (in part) suspend the perfecting of their restauration, as well for the triall & exercise of our graces, as for the fruite of this labour of our love unto them, in their accepting, & kindly proffiting by the several dispensations of god unto them by these & other meanes (through the gracious blessing of our good God) comunicated unto them.
