Ralph Abnet, of this Parish, died in the Year of our Lord God, 1597. and gave unto the Use of the Poor of this Parish the Sum of twenty Pounds, and five Pounds more for the Advancement of five poor Maid Servants of this Parish in Marriage.

Richard Jacob, of the Parish of St. Clement Danes, Vintener, died in the Year of our Lord God, 1612. and gave unto the Poor of this Parish, forty Shillings per annum, for thirty two Years, to be paid out of the Rent of the Cheaquer Tavern, in the Parish aforesaid.

Meredith Thomas, of the Parish of St. Clement Danes, Taylor, died in the Year of our Lord God, 1620. and gave the Sum of six Pounds to this Parish for ever, to be lent unto two poor Men of this Parish, either of them three Pounds a piece for three Years, without Interest; they giving good Security to the Churchwardens for the time being, to repay the said six Pounds at the three Years end.

Francis Smith, of this Parish, Grocer, died in the Year of our Lord God, 1621, and gave the Sum of twenty Pounds, whereof ten Pounds to the Poor of this Parish, and the other ten Pounds for the Maintenance of a Sermon to be Yearly preached upon Midsummer Day in this Church for ever.

Dame Margaret Walter, Wife of Sir John Walter, Kt. of this Parish, died in the Year of our Lord God, 1622. and gave unto the Poor of this Parish, the Sum of five Pounds.

John Bennet, Baker, of this Parish, died in the Year of our Lord God, 1625. and gave unto the Poor of this Parish, the Sum of ten Pounds for ever.

Jane Lane, Widow, Daughter of James Howson, of this Parish, died in the Year of our Lord God, 1625. and gave unto the Poor of this Parish the Sum of five Pounds.

There is given unto this Parish, the 26. Day of March, 1628. by the Sum of five Pounds, for the Maintenance of two Sermons to be preached Yearly, on Easter Monday, and Whitson Monday, by some sufficient and able Minister.

of this Parish, Widow, in the Year 1629. gave unto this Parish the Sum of six Pounds, to buy a second Pulpit Cloth, to remain to the Church for ever.

Sir John Walter, Kt. Lord chief Baron, died in the Year, 1630. and gave to the Use of the Poor of this Parish for ever, the Sum of twenty Pounds.

James Howson, the Elder, of this Parish, died in the Year, 1631. and gave unto the Poor of this Parish the Sum of five Pounds.

Several Tables of Benefactors to this Parish or Precinct of the Savoy, are now to be seen on the North and South Walls of this Church.

Jane Edwards gave to the Poor of this Parish of St. Mary Le Strand, and the Precinct of the Savoy, an hundred Pound. She died 1679.

Arabella, Countess Dowager of Nottingham, Anno 1681. gave twenty Pounds, to buy an Offering Basin for the Sacrament, in her Lifetime: and bequeathed an hundred Pounds for the Use of the Poor of the Precinct: The Interest whereof to be distributed Yearly.

Sir Edward Smith, her Brother, Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas in Ireland, Anno 1681. gave ten Pounds to buy a Cup and Salver for the Sacrament.

Sarah Sharp gave five Guineas to buy a piece of Plare for the Communion Table.

Anne Payce, Ann.1702. gave an House in the Savoy, towards the Maintenance of the poor old Inhabitants of this Precinct, and for putting out poor Children Apprentices.

William Peel gave ten Pounds a Year, for ever, Ann. 1659.

A dozen of Bread is distributed to the Poor every Lord's Day; with several other Charities.

There be two Yearly Sermons preached in this Church, one giving by the Lady Lovelace; preached about the beginning of October.

Another giving by Sir Francis Bulbeck, Kt. to be preached on Easter Monday.

Preparation Sermons fot the Sacrament are preached the first Fryday every Month, by several Persons.]

This Parish begins by the Naked Boy near Strand Bridge, and runneth to the Savoy on the South side, and on the North side of the Strand, from Wimbleton House to the Corner of Katharine Street. And so up that side of Katharine Street to the Fountain Tavern: where it crosses the Street into little Katharine Street, taking in the South side, with that Part of Eagle Court towards White Hart Yard: and so down the South side thereof unto Drury Lane. And against Wich Street it crosseth and takes in the South side thereof unto the Five Bell Inn; and from thence crosseth into the Strand by the Cheesemongers, and from thence all the North side of the Strand to Katharine Street Corner; as appears by the Mapp.

That Part of the Strand, which is in this Parish, is the best Part of it, both for the Largeness of the Street and the Goodness of the Buildings, and Ability of the Inhabitants, who drive a considerable Trade, being so near the Court.

Then in the High Street in the Strand, there was a fair Bridge, called Strand Bridge, and under it a Lane, or way to the Water side, which said Lane is yet remaining; but nought remains of the Bridge, but that the Place yet retains the Name. This Part of the Strand is of some Note, for its
