Saint Augustine (d. 430 A.D.)

Aurelius Augustinus. A convert to Christianity, who became bishop of Hippo, in north Africa. His theology was enormously influential until the re-emergence of Aristotelian thought in the thirteenth century, which led to a decline in Augustinian thinking.
