NOw let us have a little repetition to rub up
your memory, and you shall find all
our Politicall bints are like to prove little
lesse than propbesie; for the Kirk beings
to totter, standing between Hawk and
Buzzard, betwixt a Common-wealth and
a Monarchy. Numb. 1. and Numb. 3.
you may find this Comment upon the
beheading of vrrey, Spotswood, and Whitford. [If vengeance
pursue the Game as shee begins, then the Kirk in time may happen
to see, that by cutting off Montrose and the rest, shee hath but
clipt the Taile of the Serpent, and that if shee meant to be at quiet,
shee must resolve to grow more valiant in the next encounter, and
cut off the head.] And in another place, [vengeance usually
dances the Round; and if they thus use their Kings friends that acted
by vertue of His Commission, never loooke to see a Kings head
