THE Rebellion is even at an end in the
Highlands. The Earl of Athole, with his
two Regiments of Horse and Foot, hath
submitted. Himself, and his two Lieutenant
Colonels have gotten Terms good
enough, but the rest are disbanded, and repair home upon
slender Terms.
Glencairn is labouring likewise to procure his Peace, and
did to that end send one to General Monck to treat in his
behalf; who not being fully empowered; was sent back
again, with liberty to make return to the Generals Demands
within eight dayes, which liberty it is supposed he
will gladly accept.
They come in (the Chief of them) daily to Gen: Monck
and submit, and also to the Colonels, Morgan and Twisleton,
so that there are not a hundred left any where in a
Body. It is not confirmed yet, that Middleton is gone to
