Beginning Monday August 6.
THe House this Day had in debate a Declaration
concerning Ministers, publique worship and Government;
The preamble passed declaring their resolutions
for the propagation of the Gospell, the establishing
Presbyterian Government, and Ministers to have
sufficient maintenance allowed. The businesse of
Tythes whether to be continued or not, was then taken
into consideration, and after debate put to the
question, whether the Ministers maintenance should
be hereafter continued by Tythes, but (upon division
of the House) passed in the Negative: The House passed severall other branches
of this Declaration, and referred the rest untill the morrow. The Assemblies printed
book concerning Presbytery, and publishing thereof, was ordered to be reported
on the morrow, with the said Declaration; Also an Act for suppressing
scandalous unsycenced Books, and Pamphlets.
A Letter came to the Speaker dated August, 1. That Captaine Norwood one
of those lately landed from England, fallyed out of Dublin uppon Sir T. Armstrong
who came with a part of four Regiments to drive away the cattell, and
with a Troop of 80 and some few additionall horse repulsed them, killed 30 took
some prisoners, with the losse of 4 men.
