A Perfect Diurnall
OF SOME
PASSAGES
IN
PARLIAMENT
And daily proceedings of the Army under his
Excellency the Lord FAIRFAX.
From Munday the 19. of February till Mead the 26 of February 1642;
Collected for the satisfaction[nl] of such as desire to be truly infromed
Printed by F. Land E. G. for Francis Coles and Laurence Blaicklock,
And are to be sold at their stops in the Old-Baily, and at Temple-Barre.
Beginning Monday February 19.
THis Day the House had read a Letter from the Prince Elector,
Shewing the grounds of his returne into his
owne countrey, returning his humble thanks for their
constant and honourable favours to him, desiring
the continuance of his stipend of 8000: l[nl]: per Annum,
and pay of the 6500 l: Arrears thereof due unto
him, with the passe of the House for himselfe, his Attendants,
and 40 Horses: The House hereupon debated, and
the Result was, That the Arrears of 6500 l; due unhim
upon his sallary, should be forthwith paid him out
of the Revenue. That Mr. Speaker should grant his passe to the Prince Elector for
himselfe and Attendants, the names of all which he is to present to the Speaker, and
engage that none goe over with him but his owne Attendants, and for 40 horses to
be transported with him; as for the continuance of his stipend, it was left out till another
opportunity.
A Report was made by Leiut. Gen. Crumwell chairman of the Committee of Estates
that according to the Order of that House nineteen Members of the said Committee
had Subscribed for approving of the King execution but that 22 of the said Committee
had refused, whereof all the Lords were part; not but that they confest (except one)
the Commons of England assembled in parliament to be the Supream power of the nation,
or that they would not live and dye with them in what they should do for the
future, but could not confirme what they had done in relation to the King and Lords.
