Beginning on Friday 23 November 1649.
THis day the House according to former Order, was
resolved into a Grand Committee, touching the setling
of the Excise, and adjourned until Thursday
morning.
Resolved upon the Question by the Parliament, That
it be referred to a Committee, to take into consideration
the present Charges on the Excise, as to the
particular uses, and how and in what manner the
present Engagements on the Excise, may with the consent of the parties
concerned, be best taken off, and to call the persons before them, and
to treat with them, and tender them such other security as may give
them satisfaction, and as the House shall approve of.
