From Tuesday, March 20, to Tuesday, March the 27, 1649.
Tuesday March 20.
I Made mention not long since of an Act to be passed by the Parliament
concerning the inlargement of Prisoners. It hath
this week been read again, but with some amendments, As that every
person arrested, or which shall be arrested for any summe of
Moneys upon any Processe, Outlary, or Execution, or upon any
the Order or Decree, having no visible Estate wherewith to satisfie
Creditors upon oath taken before any Judge of Assize, Master of
the Chancery, or any two justices of the Peace of the County
where such persons shall be arrested, that the said person arrested
is not really and plainly owner of above the summe of ten pounds
in money or goods besides his wearing cloathes, and his tooles,
which is a handy-crafts man; he is to use for his employment in
his Trade, he shall be discharged and set at liberty. And if any
such person shall forsweare himselfe it shall be taken and adjudged
perjury. If any person so set at liberty shall be discharged being
under Execution, he shall give new Security by his own hand, or
by the acknowledging a new Judgement to pav the Demands at
such time and manner as the Commissioners shall think sit, And
