From Tuesday. March 6. to Tuesday, March the 13. 1648.
Tuesday March 6.
THis day made it selfe famous by the Sentence of Death passed
on the Earle of Cambridge, the Earle of Holland, the Lord
Goring, the Lord Capall, and Sir John Owen, And this week will
make it selfe as famous by the Execution of the said Sentence, In
one Day you shall find executed a Duke, an Earle, and a Lord,
which is more then ever England saw in the Court of Justice since
she hath been made visible in earnest, and by Commerce with other
Nations hath been refined from fable and neglect. This our Parliaments
in after times will remember in order to the impartiall
proceedings in their Courts of Justice and this the Ladyes and the
friends of the deceased Lords will think upon with sad but advised
hearts---.
The foure Lords and Sir John Owen being this day sentenced to
have their heads severed from their Bodies, they were carried from
place of Judgement to Saint Jameses, the Warrants for the executing
of them, were every one of them signed by eight and thirty
bands They had foure Divines allowed to come to them to assist
them in their more happy expedition to a better world; Master
Hugh Peters was also with them, and promised them spirituall
