From Tuesday, January 9. To Tuesday,January the 16. 1648.
Tuesday January 9.
I Told you in my last, that the Commissioners had as on that day
a meeting in the painted Chamber, and that the triall of Charles.
Stuart King of England was absolutely determined on, as the passages
of this day shall more fully declare unto you, For the Commissioners
having agreed upon a Proclamation to be published, that
the Kingdome may take notice of the triall of the King, they authorized
and appointed Edmond Denby Serjeant at Armes to proclaim
it, who riding into Westminster Hall, and carrying the Mase
on his Shoulder, which belongeth to the House of Commons, six
Trumpetters founding in the Hall on Horseback, and many Drums
beating in the Pallace yard to summon the people to attendance.
did publish this following Declaration.
By Vertue of an Act of the Commons of England assembled in
Parliament, for the erecting of a high Court of Justice for the trying
and judging of Charles Stuart King of England.
Wee whose Names are here under written being Commissioners,
amongst others, nominated in the said Act doe hereby appoint.
