and Conditions throughout the Kingdom.
Especially from Westminster and the Head-Quarters.
From Tuesday June'5. To Tuesday June 12. 1649.
As the Ancients, who the Devill saw,
Set forth his shape in paint,
In such a posture Would I draw
Our modern English Saint.
He spits out Zeal, like Flames of fire,
And wears the Dragon's Tail,
With Harpies Claws, and whips of wire,
And rears like Storms of hail.
His hap too 'tis the horns to wear;
His Soul's as black as Soot;
The Independ. and Presbyter
Make up his cloven cloven Foot.
No marvail then our pangs and pains
So endlesse are to tell,
Since where the Devill rules and reigns,
His Kingdom must be Hell.
---Nemo me impune lacessit.
WHat a fine litter of Judges we have to do Justice, according to the
new Knack of Treason! For since this came out, there is no more
Treason against the King, as say the supreme Knack-makers. But all
Treason runs now against the Keepers or Gaolers of Liberty, and the title
of the Kings Bench is translated into the upper form of Injustice. There
