Contralto. Little is known of Cicognani's career although he is known to have appeared in Ignaz Holzbauer's Alessandro nell'Indie at the Regio Ducal Teatro, Milan, in 1759. He was active at Naples in 1762 and 1763 and thereafter in Bologna, Modena, Reggio, Mantua and Turin. Cicognani met the Mozart in Mantua in January 1770, where he was singing the part of Sesto in Michelangelo Valentini's La clemenza di Tito; Mozart described his voice as 'pleasant', noting in particular his cantabile. They met again in Bologna, on 26 March 1770, when Cicognani sang at an academy at the home of Gian Luca Pallavicini-Centurioni. Cicognani premiered the role of Farnace in Mozart's Mitridate, re di Ponto K87.
