Poet, librettist and historian. Cigna-Santi was one of the principal librettists at the Teatro Regio, Turin and during the 1760s and 1770s a member of the Milanese Accademia dei Trasformati. His librettos include Andromeda (set by Gioacchino Cocchi in 1755 and Giuseppe Colla in 1771), Ifigenia in Aulide (Ferdinando Bertoni, 1762, and Carlo Franchi, 1766), Montezuma (Francesco De Majo, 1765, Josef Myslivecek, 1771, and Baldassare Galuppi, 1772), and Mitridate, Re di Ponto set by both Quirino Gasparini, 1767, and Mozart, 1770, K87.
