Composer. Mazzoni was admitted to the Accademia Filarmonica, Bologna, as a tenor in 1736; he was maestro di cappella at Fano in 1746 and from 1759 at the cathedral of S. Petronio, Bologna, succeeding Angelo Caroli. A principe of the Accademia Filarmonica in 1771, he was among the examiners for Mozart's admission in 1770. He was also one of the composers whose work Mozart heard at the annual celebration of St Anthony on 30 August 1770 (letter 206). Lit.: Basso. I Mozart in Italia, 607-608; Oxford Music Online.
