Composer. A student of Padre Martini, Zanotti belonged to a prestigious family, including the painter Giampietro Zanotti (1674-1765) and the philosopher and scientist Francesco Maria Zanotti (1692-1777). Giancalisto Zanotti was elected to the Bolognese Accademia Filarmonica in 1758 and elected principe in 1764. He was deputy maestro to Giuseppe Maria Carretti at San Petronio from 1764, assuming full responsibility for the position following Carretti's death in 1774. His Dixit was among the works heard by Mozart at San Giovanni in Monte on 30 August 1770. Lit.: Basso, I Mozart in Italia, 678.
