Roles
Tenor
Ettore's first known performance was the role of Sebaste at the premiere of Niccolò Jommelli's Temistocle at the Real Teatro di San Carlo, Naples, on 18 December 1757; in September 1761 he was appointed Hof- und Kammersänger in Munich although he continued to make appearances throughout Italy, notably in 1767, when he sang the title-role in Quirino Gasparini's Mitridate, Re di Ponto at the Teatro Regio, Turin. Ettore also sang the title-role in Mozart's MitridateK87, and apparently caused him problems during both the composition and rehearsals of the opera, demanding that several arias be rewritten and - eventually - insisting on the inclusion of Gasparini's setting of ‘Se di lauri’. That season he also sang in Carlo Monza's La Nitteti (text by Metastasio). Lit.: Angermüller, 'Die Sänger der Erstaufführung von Mozarts "Mitridate, Re di Ponto"', 13-17.
