Marquis. Among other diplomatic posts, Ximenes d'Aragona, a passionate music lover, was chamberlain to Francis I in Vienna and, between 1751 and 1765, ambassador to several European courts, including those at Stockholm, St Petersburg and Munich. He established a residence in Padova in 1765 and had good relations with important musicians of the time, including Padre Martini, Francesco Antonio Vallotti and Giovanni Ferrandini.
