Milan 9 Nov. 1771
I`m writing in some haste to report that I`ve received your congratulations and the whole packet of letters. footnote1 God willing, Wolfg. will thank you himself at the end of this month or at the beginning of December. I`m fully recovered, thank God, yesterday we had lunch at Hs Ex Co Firmian`s in the company of H Hasse. Both H Hasse and Wolfg. have been splendidly rewarded for their work: quite apart from the money they received, H Hasse has been given a snuff-box and Wolfg. a watch set with diamonds . footnote2 I told you in my last letter not to write to me in Milan any longer, but to write to Verona. You`ll shortly be receiving some letters from me from Verona telling you whether we`re going to Padua for a few days or returning straight home. If a post-day passes without a letter from me, this is a sign that I`m en route and can`t write. Addio. We kiss you many 10000000 times, and I am, as always, your old

Dearest Sister,
Kiss Mama`s hand. Best wishes to all our friends. Meanwhile I`m writing in extreme haste to thank everyone who congratulated me; I`ll be able to thank them better in person. Farewell.
