grannestævne (ODan) grannastefna (ON) noun

A local government of the village dealing primarily with matters concerning fencing, grazing, harvesting etc. The ODan grannestævne had a more far-reaching authority than the OIce, passing judgements and issuing fines in certain local matters, and corresponded to the OSw soknastæmpna (q.v.).
