Examined saith that he was born in Shrewsbury and there served an apprenticeship for 7 years space with one Evan ap Williams a glover there and saith that it is now four years sithens the expiration of his apprenticeship that his Master's name in London is Richard Martin dwelling in Thames Street with whom he dwelt and continued 2 years and that this day sevenight he came forth of London accompanied with other men strangers to this examinate and that upon Sunday evening last he came to Tarvin where he lodged all night at the Spread Eagle… and from thence came directly to this city and came to a house that he knoweth not… wherewith he walked in the open market and denieth absolutely of stealing of the purse with 30s or thereabouts in it from Arthur Bostock… And further he saith not save only that the chief occasion of his coming thither is for that he intendeth to go into Ireland to Dublin there to work.
