Examined what guests she had in her house yesterday night last saith a journeyman of John Askew's one Morris who had lodged there a quarter of a year before and paid for his lodging 3d a week and also saith a man and his wife of Ruthin one Tudds a tanner lay at her house and an Irish woman great with child whom Thomas Heath cooper brought to this examinate's house this day three weeks and paith for her lodging 3d a week and also saith one Jane Rogerson widow lodgeth at her house and An other woman one John lodged there a four weeks' space who… went thence whither she this examinate knoweth not and for whose further coming this examinate hath undertaken to Mr Sheriff… Examined what she can say touching the fray between William Man Askew and Morris saith between 6 and 7 of the clock yesterday night in company with James Harvey came into this examinate's house to pay the said Morris his wages and being both there drinking saith that the said William Man… one Richard Harris and Richard Fletcher came thither to speak with the said John Askew touching a pair of pantaples which Askew promised to make for the said William Man and being there Man demanded his pantaples and Askew said he could get no leather but would make him them before Friday next of good cheer wherewith the said Man reviled the sad Askew with most evil words and said he would cut him the said Askew as small as flesh to the pot whence Askew left orders with Morris his man to pay Askew's part of the shot and so Askew went forth out of the house leaving all the rest of his company behind there saying he would look whether he could buy the said man a pair of pantaples in in any other place and saith that the said William Man after that Askew was gone thence reviled at the said Askew in all ever sort and with great oaths and drew out his dagger and struck it upon the form swearing and saying that he would cut Askew as small as flesh to the pot and bade the said Morris to go and tell his Master so who said he would not so yet saith in end the said William Man enforced the said Morris to go out of the house to tell his Master those words whether he would or not and therewith saith Morris went forth of the house and as this examinate supposeth did acquaint his master Askew with those speeches of William Man's and saith that shortly after the said Askew came into this examinate's house to the said company and sat down at the table very hard and the said Morris did stand by him having no weapons (as this examinate saw) and saith that presently as soon as the said Man and Askew had talked together about the said pantaples the said William Man arose and went to the said Askew and with his first and hand did… thrust at Askew's bust and mouth and gave Askew… a blow upon the ear and therewith this examinate did thrust them all out of the house into the lane where they fought together but who hurt [the] other this examinate knoweth not saving that this examinate saw a dagger taken out of Mitchell's thigh… but who threw that dagger this examinate knoweth not… Examined what was the shot of the said parties the said time said 19d wherewith she is unpaid… Examined upon what occasion Jarret Harvey came to this examinate's house saith only to drink with this examinate's husband… Examined whether she saw any parties taken in the said affray saith she was so feared she knoweth not.
