Showeth that whereas your said petitioner hath for the space of sixteen years last past and upwards by licence sold and uttered beer and ale in Oldham aforesaid and hath not during that time kept nor caused to be kept any unlawful games or evil rule that your petitioner hath a wife and eight children, and hath nothing to maintain them with but the said calling… Your petitioner therefore humbly prays your good worships would be pleased to give unto him your licence for the selling of ale and beer as aforesaid he behaving himself in all things as he ought to do. And your petitioner will ever pray for your Worships' happiness.
