Showeth unto your worships that one John Shakerley of Little Hulton aforesaid Webster is a very lewd disordered and dangerous person and hath committed divers felonies as he himself hath confessed and doth now wholly neglect his trade of weaving and doth frequent bad company and not having any means of maintenance but his own labour doth nevertheless live idly so that it must needs follow that he doth get his living altogether by bad and wicked courses by reason whereof we and other of his neighbours are greatly afraid of him and his companions… The premises considered our humble petition is your worships would be pleased to grant your warrant for the apprehension of the said John Shakerley and for the conveying him to the house of correction that so he might be compelled to work and reformed of his wicked and idle life and your petitioners shall pray for your worships' health and eternal happiness.
