Examined how happened that he was out of his own house yesterday night last saith he chanced to be at the house of Ralph Cowper shearman drinking at after 9 of the clock in company of John Kahen and the said Cowper and saith Ralph Rathburne came into that house… and then went directly… to his bed and saith his wife was in bed before he came whence and saith he did keep the key of his door himself so as she was locked in that house… Examined upon what occasion doeth he so often repair into the Castle of Chester… saith he was there the last week with an old women of whom he hath had work. Examined where he was yesterday last at sermon time and service time saith in the street and saith yesterday was sevennight he was at service time at Ralph Cooper's house… Examined when last he commuted saith at Easter… two years and not since by reason he is out in charity with Peter Jenkin with whom he is at variance. Examined how happeneth the he cometh not to his parish church upon the Sunday and holy day saith because he hath not his ordinary usual seat therein.
