This deponent saith that he being servant to the said parties was in company with John Griffiths and the said defendant in Chester drinking together two several times this last year in a certain house in the Northgate Street, whose house it is he knoweth not certainly and further saith that he hath seen the said John Griffiths in the night season divers times this last year standing under the chamber window of the said defendant on the backside of the plaintiff's house suspiciously, having no business there, which this deponent knew of, except to speak with the defendant and saith further that the now plaintiff about the feast of St Andrew's last told this deponent that he suspected the said John Griffiths and the defendant to be naughty together.
This deponent saith that the said… defendant and John Griffiths… were suspected in Christleton to be naughty together this last year, and this deponent saith that she can say nothing of her own knowledge thereunto saving that she saith she this deponent being laundered and washing the shirt of the said John Griffiths sithence Michaelmas last hath seen the said John Griffith when after he brought or fetched his shirt to or from this deponent send for a pot of ale, and the said plaintiff and defendant would sometimes come in and be at the drinking of the said ale, as she was wont to repair to this deponent's husband's house divers and sundry times as well when the said John Griffiths was there as not and further saith that the said John Griffith brought a shoulder of mutton to this deponent's husband's house upon a time whence this hallowtide last and got the same roasted there upon a Sunday and eaten there the same Sunday.
