One day about the latter end of January last was a twelve month (1682) this deponent being in his father's shop, the next door to the plaintiff Mr Hough's, hearing Hough and the defendant Thomas Faulks at words, though the plaintiff said very little to him, this deponent came to the door and the defendant in this deponent's both sight and hearing called Mr Hough a rogue, and a pimping knave, a coffee man and a hangman, this being in St Olave's parish, this deponent's two contests being also there at the same time.
One day about a twelve month ago within the parish of St Olave, this deponent heard Thomas Faulkes speaking to Mr Hough the party producent, call the plaintiff a pimping rogue and a pimping knave, a coffee man and a hangman, this deponent's brother and precontest, also Mary Parry their contest being by at the same time.
One day in the Bridgestreet in Chester this deponent heard Thomas Faulkes call the plaintiff to his face a pimping rogue, and a pimping knave, a coffee man, a hang man, and he then gave him many other foul and bad words, but the plaintiff answered or said very little.
