In summer last was two years or there about, this deponent and Daniel Creake being both trained soldiers under Sir Thomas Gawdy were at a muster in Redenhall, when and where Daniel Creake was much distempered with excessive drinking of beer, which was perceived by divers there present, both by his beating of the drum and by his other behaviour.
Mr John Baker was and at this present time is commonly accounted to be a very honest man… In summer last was two years this deponent did see Daniel Creake at a muster in Redenhall much distempered with excessive drinking and behaved himself ill insomuch that the Captain Thomas Gawdy did take notice thereof and was angry.
Two or three years since Mr Baker did live in the house with Mr Anguish at Starston and did sometimes buy mutton at Harleston for Mr Anguish which this deponent once or twice did carry home to the house of Mr Anguish… He hath known Daniel Creake eight or nine years last past in which time he hath seen Daniel Creake oft times distempered with excessive drinking of beer and hath seen him in these fits stagger and reel in the streets, and more particularly Creake was about two years and a half since much distempered at a muster in Redenhall insomuch that Sir Thomas Gawdy being then captain of that company did threaten him to lay him by the heels.
