Some time in June last but the certain night he doth not remember, Browne having been abroad drinking came home about 11 or 12 at night and knocked and roared at the door going to this deponent's chamber which door leads also to Browne's chamber and made so much a noise that this deponent was forced to rise out of his bed and threatened Browne to fetch the constable to set him in the stocks on account of his disturbing the neeighbours. And Gittings hearing the said noise and some abusive words given by Browne to this deponent told Browne that if he would not be quiet he should be secured till the morning. Upon which Browne speaking to Gittings said, Damn ye, you are a whore, which words were spoken in the hearing of this deponent and Elizabeth his wife and Anne Hassel as he believeth.
Some time in the latter end of June last to the best of this deponent's remembrance but the certain night she doth not remember the articulate Charles Browne having been abroad drinking came home about 9 or 10 of the clock at night knockt and roared at a door or upon the boards which part the lodgings of Browne and John Crotch... Mary Gittings her chamber being near the said boards and by which she pass to her chamber. Upon which noise John Crotch called to Browne to know the reason of his making such a noise and disturbing the neighbours, Browne gave ill language and Gittings called to Browne and bade him hold his tongue and forbear making a noise and giving ill language. Upon which Browne, speaking and answering Gittings, called her whore and she asking him whether he knew who he spoke to he replied and said, Mary you are a whore, which words this deponent heard being in her own room which is under the producent's chamber, and believe they were heard by other the neighbours they being spoken so loud.
