About the 26th of November 1698 he [Joseph Rumsey] did take from his landlord William Crew of St Etheldreda's parish in the said city a silver cup and some silver money with some other things, and the examinant Sarah Rumsey saith that she knew nothing of the silver cup that is said to be taken from William Crew her husband's landlord until she came into the house of Sir Francis Bickley and staying there till Sir Francis should come home (being taken by a hue and cry) her husband did own the silver cup that is now at Mr Mayor's but she was not concerned in the taking of it away. And further Joseph Rumsey saith that he hid the cup up in Sir Francis's stable and it was found by some of his servants.
