To the Right Worshipful the King's Majesty's Justices at the Sessions kept and holden at Swaffham the 30th day of May in the year of Our Lord God 1621… This is to certify unto your good worships of the behaviour of one Osband Bull the which keepeth one alehouse in the town of Marham the which keepeth very evil rule in his house contrary to the law… There was one Edward Talbut of Wormegay four days drinking at the said Bull's house, and the Sabbath day was one, and he was out of course and the said Bull and his wife was from the church… Also there was in March last past divers men drinking at the said Osband Bull's house, there was two men fighting. And the one did bite the other and it is thought one of them hath lost a joint of his finger, that is one Henry Sporne of the town of Marham and Thomas Hemson of Swaffham was the other… Also upon the 29th day of May there was men drinking and playing at the said Bull's house until they fell a-fighting and rent their clothes off their backs and was all bloody and these parties was John Dobes and one Pattricke a sawyer… Also there was a cooper that dwelleth at Bilney was at the said Bull's house the which was out of order upon the Sabbath day in evening prayer there and divers other things that might have been spoken of.
