
Being examined confesseth and saith that about a fortnight ago two strange fellows whose names she knows not came to the house of Widow Knee in the Watergate Street where she this examinate draws beer and they drank so much beer as came to 12d and she demanding money of them they answered they had none whereupon one of them drew a piece of linen cloth out of his breeches which was wet and would have had this examinate to have bought it but she denieth to buy it one of the said fellows left it upon a form in the room where they drank and went their ways and said they would come shortly after and give her money and saith that that about half an hour after their departure one Henry Darwall a constable with others came into the house to enquire for the said fellows and to know whether they had left any linen there and this examinate said they had and showeth it from where it was they took it away with them alleging it to be John Prenton’s goods.
