Current Calls of Interest

The Digital Humanities Institute (DHI) is actively seeking collaboration on the following Horizon Europe Cluster 2 calls focused on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and inclusive societies.

Across these calls, DHI can lead or co-lead technical, data, and infrastructure work packages, bringing integrated expertise in digital infrastructure, data engineering, language technologies, and responsible AI.

AI in pre-primary and primary education

This call addresses the effective and responsible use of AI — including generative AI — in early-years learning environments.

DHI can lead a technical or evaluation-focused work package to:

  • Design robust evidence-generation pipelines for AI evaluation
  • Develop annotated datasets for educational AI research
  • Audit bias, fairness, and inclusion impacts
  • Build interpretable outputs (dashboards, briefing tools and policy-ready summaries)
  • Deliver practical, adoption-ready toolkits for educators

Our expertise in NLP/LLMs, reproducible data workflows, and governance-aware AI integration enables us to combine technical rigour with real-world usability.

AI4Creatives Support Platform

This call seeks to establish a European support platform for the responsible adoption of AI in cultural and creative sectors.

DHI is well positioned to co-design and deliver the platform’s technical backbone, including:

  • System architecture and scalable platform development
  • Discovery, interoperability, and cross-sector integration functions
  • Standards and toolkits for responsible AI use in CCSI
  • Knowledge services linking to heritage and digital humanities infrastructures
  • FAIR-compliant, sustainable data frameworks

With 30+ years of infrastructure delivery and 70+ sustained public platforms, DHI can lead technical implementation and sustainability planning components within this call.

AI, cyberviolence, deepfakes and democratic resilience

This call addresses the societal impact of AI-enabled disinformation, cyberviolence, and deepfake technologies.

DHI can lead or co-lead the development of the project’s technical evidence base by:

  • Constructing annotated corpora of harmful digital content
  • Applying NLP and LLM-based analysis to characterise harms and discriminatory impacts
  • Designing scalable analytical pipelines for deepfake and disinformation research
  • Developing adoption-ready prototypes (searchable evidence hubs, interactive explainers)
  • Translating computational findings into usable outputs for policymakers and civil society

Our strength lies in combining large-scale computational analysis with interoperable infrastructure and public-facing digital outputs.

How We Engage

DHI supports Horizon consortia from early proposal stages by:

  • Scoping technical feasibility and infrastructure architecture
  • Designing data governance and Open Science frameworks
  • Structuring realistic work packages and resource planning
  • Integrating sustainability planning from project inception

We welcome early discussions with coordinators developing proposals under these calls.
