             Wedensday Aprill the: 17th
                     1650
whereas[altered] itt hath pleased Almightye God to blesse mee in my desires and endeavours to the finding out the vse of some new and the better vse of some formerly knowne parts of certaine engines which I haue heretofore experimented & having now as I conceaue fully [accomplished? MS edge] my desires & intentions in the perfecting (att least) of some verry considerable parts thereof which are of excellent vse alone, and may bee put in practice to great advantage in verry short tyme
And whereas there hath beene by mee propounded to sutch as haue or att any tyme shall venture or engage with mee for the perfecting of the said workes the some of, 30[L?] in the first place as an earnest penny or admission money, & as shall from tyme to tyme allsoe farther disburse (the worke beeing once made applicable & demonstrable) sutch other some or somes as shall bee iustly demanded in order to the farther advancement of the said engine in applying itt to sutch purposes as will tend most to the benifitt & reall proffitt of my selfe and the rest of the participants which by the said proposalls are to bee: 10 - (vizt) my selfe accompted for three in reguard of & reward for my Invention care and paines and every man that makes him selfe a participant by paying mee the thirtye pounds as aforesaid for admission money, and that shall farther doe and pay according to what is exprest in a paper by mee delivered to Mr Corceiles in that behalfe
I doe by these presence (in respect of the great obligations that haue beene layde vpon mee by Mr Sammuell Hartlib of dukes place London, & for & in consideration of a competent some of money by the said mr hartlib to mee in hand payde before the ensealing of these presence, and whereof I doe by these [present? MS edge] acknowledge the receipt and of the same for ever aquitt & discharge him the said Sammuell Hartlib, And for dyvers orther [left margin:] good causes & considerations mee therevnto especially moving) Giue, grant, bargaine, sell, assigne & sett over vnto the said Sammuell Hartlib all that my right title interest [claime?] & demaund whatsoever which I haue, had or may or ought to haue att any tyme hereafter, in all or every or any part of the said engine or the proffitts which now doe or here after may arrise off or from the same [letter deleted] fully & absolutely
