     An Extract of Mr Pels Letter
         dated at Breda the 18/28 of March 1652
  If Sir Paul Neale desire to bring an Vniversal discredit vpon the Hyperbolical glasses, hee must vse stronger arguments than can bee drawn from Mr Reeves Workemanship, or else others will hope they have found a better Workman and fall vpon new trials. I have heard that Mr Hobbes intends to shew that Des-Cartes made that Conclusion before hee had sufficiently considered his premises. Ad pauca respicientes, facilius pronuntiant saith Aristotle
           Amsterdam 12. of April 1652
  Monsieur Olearius (the Duke of Holsteins Historian) hath ground Parabolica Vitra which j saw myselfe and so doth likewise the Opticus of Augsburg. The 8. of this month hee saw with the foresaid Opticus Tube the Ecclips of the Sun with great Ast astonishment the like as j suppose hath never beene observed as to the Telescope the day being very cleare and no clouds at all appearing in the Heavens. I purpose God willing when the weather is fine
