A further Declaration, touching some off those
Mechanicall New Inventions & Instruments, for
which His Majesties Patent is desired at present.
No 1. As concerning the First thereoff, it may be framed diversly, according as the Application off it is appointed or intended, either for the lifting up, or drawing, or transporting <things> off anie bulke or waight both out off, upon or above ground, whether out off the deepes off ear the earth or waters, or above ground to anie place or haight: or for the beating <in plates or pieces> or fastening, or bruising or breaking breaking, <[word deleted] & pulling downe>, or pressing, or squeesing off anie thing, whereunto anie multiplied & instrumentall force & strength must be adhibited. The Use off it may be exercised either <partly> by land, within or without anie houses or other buildings, aloft or on the ground; partly also by sea & waters, many wayes & in manie occasions, especially in ships, <as> for the fitting & disposing off things therein, so also for the transporting lading or unlading off the same farre or neare the shoare, also out off one ship into another.
These New int new-invented Instruments are so Advantagious & Compendious, that they can not onely performe ipso actu, whatsoever could be achieved by anie former Instrument, but in regard off sundrie great commodities, doe farre surpasse them all: as especially, that they in these particulars; that these our Instruments may be used and employed in a number of places, Where no other Instruments can be brought or used; againe, that by them the Time can be proportioned to the Quantitie of the matters agitated; & much also, that in straight & narrow places strengh for the performance off things most difficult & extraordinarie, they may be strenghtened sufficiently for it, onely by allowing it more Time, which in plaines & easily accessarie places can be gained by setting more men aworke about it.
[71/12/16B]

& yet farther, that these our Instruments may both easily speedily be transported from one place to another & forthwith employde accordingly; all which Qualities <& effects> no other Instrument in use hitherto, nor all the usuall instruments together, can produce or supply us: Nor doe these Instruments prejudice poore people, that must earne their living by carrying, helping to worke [etc?] for by <about> many former & usuall Instruments, there is as few people required, as to ours; & besides this they will rather be advantaged & get more worke by the practise off our Instruments, for as much, as by reason off the insufficiencie off the former, many things were left unessayed & undone, viz about thus that were off extraordinarie bulke or waight, which by our New-invented Instruments, onely by employing off more workemen about it, may & will be performed.
No 3. Divers Inventions off & Experiments off curious water workes, both <as well> for use & necessitie, as for pleasure & recreation, whereby the water is <agitated> either <by> drawing or pressing or sucking, & so derived & deducted according to the severall occasions; hereby also the naturall couse <course> of the water, may be turned to runne what way you please.
No 4. Divers sorts off Mills to be agitated either by running rivers or by standing water made to runne, or by winde, or by beasts, horse, oxen or anie other, or by men, or by waights; to serve for all kinds off things, that neede to be grinded, mortered beaten or bruised in morters, turned & winded, rowled & orb circulated; cast forth & evacuated.
No 5. As for the Instruments off land measuring, either Mathematicall or Mechanicall, they serve not onely for the more commodious & accurate measuring off grounds, but likewise in a certain manner applied to anie kinde off waggon, we may allwayes & readily know by the
[71/12/17A]

benefit of this instrument, how much way that waggon made, & how much Time it spent from one place to the other: it may also be applied to other things.
And thus much may suffice, for that I am not well able to make myselfe fully understood by word off mouth or writting, being forced to make use off another language then my owne native, wherein I can not so sufficiently expresse my selfe as the matter requireth, there being also none heere that understands our Moravian Idiome, & could English it; So that the Effect & Worke it selfe must declare & manifest the rest, after I shall have obtained His Majesties Patent.
