Salutem in Christo
Sir, I send you heere inclosed, an answer to Mr Dures letters, to my Lord Primate, my Lord of Ardagh, et me; the Copy whereof I received Iuly. 29. Since which tyme I received the Declaration of the 3 Articles et presently I sent them to my Lord of Ardagh, et now at our meeting the Last Session of Parliament we have shaped this Answer: to the satisfaction of Mr Hildebrands desire, although his letters were not addressed to vs. In this dijoint of our owne Church et state, we cannot conceive how with any reputation Mr Duree can prosecute the negotiation of peace abroade. Notwithstanding we remitt it to himselfe We conceive that my Lord Primate hath long since answered these letters, otherwise we would have left them vnsealed, that he might have joyned with vs. And if otherwise; you may if you please breake vp the seale, et receive his hand, if he so thinck fitt. My purpose was to have written to Mr Duree apart, but through multitude of buisines I cannot now do it. I do hartily et dayly recommend his buisines to God. And joine with you in prayers for the peace of Ierusalem resting ever
