This Indenture made the day of Anno domini 1650 betweene Crescye Dymocke of Grayes Inne in the County of Middlesex gent. on the one part, And Allexander Tracye of and Sammuell Hartlib of London gents on the other part, Wittnesseth that whereas God hath beene gratiously pleased to blesse the endeavours of the aboue named Crescye Dymocke in the Inventing, obteyning & finnishing of engine of motion now extant att lambeth in the county of Surrey according to the example whereof that is to say referring to the principle of that motion that is new, & myne and which makes this motion or engine, or invention and all engines that shall hereafter bee erected by this patterne) more excellent then any others hitherto knowne in this nation Now knowe yee that I the said Crescye Dymocke for & in consederation of a competent sum of money to mee in hand payde before the ensealing of these presents by the said Allexander Tracye & Sammuell Hartlib, or their assignies or some or one of them, And whereof I doe acknowledge the receipt and for other good causes & Consederations mee therevnto especially mooving Haue given barganed solde assigned & sett over & by these presents doe, giue grant bargaine sell assigne & sett over vnto the said Allexander Tracye & Sammuell Hartlib their heirs executors administrators & assignes for ever, all my proprietye in or right, title clayme, or demand vnto the said engine & invention <soe farre as doth or may Concerne the kingdome of England & the dominion thereof> and in & vnto all the applications to which the said engine or Invention is or shall bee formed or made applicable, And in & vnto all vses proffitts benifitts and advantages that shall or may arrise from the same <with in the said kingdome of england & the dominions thereof> with as full power to bee in them the said Alexander Tracye & Sammuell Hartlib their heirs executors administrators or assignes to erect, Contract or doe <within the limmits aforesaid> to all intents & purposes whatsoever as too the said Crescy Dymocke

Could or might haue done before the ensealing of these presents And the [said? altered] Crescye dymocke doth covenant promise and agree to & with the said Allexander Tracye & Sammuell Hartlib by these presents that hee the said Crescye dymocke shall & will from tyme to Tyme & at all tymes hereafter (except hee bee hindered by sicknes or some other lyke lawfull impediment) during the space of three whole yeares ensueing the date of these presents faythfully truely & willingly putt forth, vse, & practice his skill & best endeavovr <by way of direction & oversight> in, & towards the the making erecting & framing of all such engines as they the said Allexander Tracye & Sammuell Hartlib shall desire to sett vp according to the moddle or example now extant in Lambeth provided that such engine or engines bee onely for the propper vse behoofe & benifitt of them the said Allexander Tracye & Sammuell Hartlib

there bee not att any tyme aboue one weekes pay behind And the said Allexander Tracye & Sammuell Hartlib doe Covenant promise & agree to & with the said Crescy dymocke that during the said three yeares they shall not imploy any other person or persons whatsoever to direct or observe as aforesaid, nor shall nor will make erect or frame any engine or engines in any one place or for any intent & purpose whatsoever without the advice & assistance of the said Crescye Dymocke according to the true meanig of the fore goeing Clause or covenant, except itt come to passe that the said Crescye Dymocke shall first refuse to meddle in this or that perticuler worke, or in case of the sicknesse long & farre distant absence, or death of him the said Crescye Dymocke And the said Allexander Tracye & Sammuell Hartlib doe for themselues their & ether of their heires executors administrators & assignes and every of them by these presents Covenant promise grant & agree to & with the said Crescye Dymocke his heires executors administrators & assignes & every of them that itt shall & may bee lawfull for him the said Crescye Dymocke his executors administrators or assignes, to make, erect, frame & finish any engine for any applycation whatsoever, when and where hee or they shall please Provided itt bee onely for the propper vse & behoofe of the said Crescye Dymocke and his wife and children In witnesse whereof
