My much honoured and worthie <Mr> Hartlib,
I doe here send you inclosed my Ansher to our good Friend Mr Durie, of the conveyance whereof I know you will be carefull. I wish his imployment could have better success than I see ground yet to expect; I likewise return your book professio pietatis with thanks. The Authour is of vast invention, great parts and holy intentions; and gladds my heart that there are any of such worth bending their thoughts that way. The booke is a table of a greater worke and cutts propounds more than an age cann perform. multiplicitie confounds and deterrs from vndertaking. such works cann hardly be done by others than their projectors; because everieman hath his owne method, and proper abilities of prosequuting any designe well to effect it. I shall be gladd to heare from you; and sorrie that you should suffer in your ingagements for <promotion of> publick and good causes. so with my heartiest commendations to you I commend you to god, and rest
