Worthy Sir.
I am so farre indebted vnto you for your extraordinary curtesies vnto me a stranger, and the fauours you haue done me by the free imparting of your good aduertisements, as I knowe not which way to acquitte my selfe, or after what manner to expresse my thankfullnes; either vnto your selfe, or towards good mr Durye who is the author of this my happines on your acquaintance & correspondence. I should haue shewed you before now how much I esteemed it, but that I haue bene perplexed a little how it might be best continued, and settled. for in respect of my Brothers absence from London oftentimes, both your & my letters, by his addresse, may be kept up too long ere they come vnto our hands; as hath happened with some of yours. Now therefore I haue taken a course with my good Frind Mr Ino Bowater Merchant, [left margin, Hartlib: [Scue?] lane St. [Ames?]] to vndertake the safe and speedie addresse of whatsoeuer you shall please to send me. who will also deliuer you this letter, together with a small vessell of sturgeon; which I would intreat you to accept as a small testimonie of my affection, Upon Mr Duryes intimation to me of your good Brothers distressed condition, [Catchword: I]
[45/3/1B]

I procured a small releefe for him here of the Companie; and haue caused the same to be sent vnto him at Riga. if I knew any other way wherby to expresse my selfe toward him, or you, or any Frind of yours, you should find me most readie, and shall doe whensoeuer you shall haue opportunitie.
I shall intreat you to deliuer the inclosed to good Mr Durye, with the remembrance of my best loue & respects.   And vnto him, and you both I should haue written more at large; but that the passeng[.. hole in MS] giues me no more time, then [to? hole] let him & you both knowe, that I euer remayne
                        Your most affectionate
                            Frind & seruant
