Sir I received yours dated Decemb:12. I returne you here the pages you wrote for with thanks for all your Curtesies. I also send vp my loadstone to be lent to the French Gentleman vpon such security as Mr Brooke hath directions for in his letter. I pray keepe constantly the course to call at Mr Fishers on Wednesday or send about exchange time & returne to his boxe your answere on Thursday. The stone I send by <a> frend whoe perhaps will come & leave it in the afternoone with Mr Fisher. & so these inclosed letters papers you <word deleted> <left margin: of Mr Durey you wrote for> Writts for ship mony are come the Sheriff butt yet no writts for parliament. I hope the French will not meddle further with the palgrave. I rather chuse meane security then great such as may not be sued citizens or other knowne to Mr Brooke or Mr Penning & I refere all to Mr Brooke & your selfe.
Salute Mr Hake & tell Mr Mersenn<e> I can demonstrate that fire & rust will will deforme a loadstone as well as Iron with fire [omnium edare?] turnes into crocus martis so that no loadstone will touch <it> I have that proved & tryed it to the full. I hope to come vp next terme not yet having ayred my selfe. till when I [pray &? altered] ever I rest yours
in him that is love &
                             Truthe./
                                    Sa Ward.
