He strongly supported the candidature of Arnulf of Chocques as patriarch of Jerusalem, but died shortly after the fall of Jerusalem. In the First Crusade sources the bishop of Martirano is unnamed. The name Arnulf is a conjecture and probably derives from confusion with Arnulf of Chocques who is frequently mentioned in the same contexts
