A peace was arranged between Robert and his brother William Rufus before his departure by Abbot Jarento of St BĂ©nigne. Robert agreed to pawn his duchy of Normandy to his brother for 10,000 marks. This was to be repaid in 3-5 years. VE, p. 84.
