Pannage. The right or privilege to pasture pigs (or other animals) in a forest; the foraging of pigs in woodland for food; the action of pasturing pigs in this way.
Parchment. A piece of animal skin, esp. from a sheep or goat, dressed and prepared as a surface for writing; a scroll or roll of this material; a manuscript or document written on this.
Penalty. An act liable to punishment, a penal offence.
Perch. A measure of area (of land, brickwork, etc.), varying locally but later standardized at 1/600 of an acre, or 30 1/4 square yards.
Plaintiff. The party who brings a suit into a court of law; a complainant, prosecutor; opposed to defendant.
Plea. A suit or action at law; the presentation of an action in court. A pleading; an allegation formally made by a party to the court; an argument or reason urged by or on behalf of a litigant or party to a suit, in support of his case.
Pledge. A person who becomes surety for another; a bail; a surety; a member of a frank-pledge.
Present. To bring or lay before a court, magistrate, or person in authority, for consideration or trial; to make presentment of.
Presentment. The act of presenting or laying before a court or person in authority a formal statement of some matter to be legally dealt with. A statement on oath by a jury of a fact within their own knowledge.
Probate. The official proving of a will; also, the officially verified copy of the will together with the certificate of its having been proved, which are delivered to the executors.
