Purse frame. 1400 - 1500. Purse frames became popular in England around 1400. A cloth or leather purse was sewn onto the frame, using the little holes for attachment. The purse was then suspended from the belt. This purse had two pivoting semi-circular frames that opened the bag and gave it its shape. Found at Conisbrough Castle.. Click for a larger image.
